2010 MLK Scholarship Recipient

The National Bar Association announced its 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy Competition in February, 2011. In its 11th year, the competition provides an opportunity for high school seniors to earn scholarships for college. MetLife is the Platinum sponsor of the program for the second consecutive year.

High school seniors from Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Utah were invited to submit an essay for the 2011 Region X competition.

Alexandra Kennerly won 1st place in the 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy Competition in May 2010 for Region X.  Ms. Kennerly addressed the question:  "If Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was alive today, would he advise President Barack Obama to support or oppose legalizing same-sex marriage?"
