Welcome to the New Mexico Black Lawyers Association website.
The 2011-2012 executive board members are Sonia Gipson Rankin, President; Shammara Henderson, Vice-President; Aja Brooks, Secretary; and Raymond Hamilton, Treasurer.
We are excited about the opportunity to serve as the executive Board for 2011-2012. The original tenets of organization were: to conduct a program of continuing legal education for the membership; to improve the method of judicial selection and tenure; to study the needs of the State and community for legislation; and to protect the civil rights of the citizens of the community through the legal profession. In 2011 we will continue to pursue those goals and others by undertaking the following activities and services:
- E-filing, Electronic Demonstrative Devices, & Effective Uses of Case Management Applications CLE to be held September 2, 2011
- Continued support and mentorship to the NBA Region X Drum Major for Justice Essay Winner for national competition
- Collaborative efforts with New Mexico Black high school students, regarding legal careers
- Renewal of collaborative efforts with other Black community organizations in New Mexico
- Increasing the Black bar passage rate in the State of New Mexico
